About the Hall
Mickleton Village Hall was built in 1993, on the site of the no-longer-habitable 100 year old Church Institute. It’s a full-sized, award winning hall, built in one year entirely by the enthusiastic efforts of virtually everyone in the village. The Hall was formally opened by the Earl of Strathmore on Jan 1st 1994 and has been well used ever since. Its prime purpose is to serve the village and it’s three associated parishes; but its size and layout make it an ideal choice for private parties, weddings etc and business functions. It is also a popular venue for visiting theatre companies and musical events from R’n’B to choral concerts. It is used by a variety of clubs and organisations as well as Parish council meetings and much more besides. The hall is available for hire for: • Meetings/Seminars • Social Events • Wedding Receptions • Fairs and Sales • Rehearsals • Training • Functions • Parties • Dances • Sports Classes • Stage Productions/Concerts • Presentations with IT facilities Regular activities ongoing in the hall include the Cinema Club, Teesdale Day Clubs, stage productions and concerts and the extremely popular R ‘n’ B nights. The Village
Mickleton is a busy yet peaceful farming village in the valley beside the River Tees. The village has a population of around 350 and sits on what used to be the borders of the North Yorkshire Moors until the boundaries were redrawn to shift us into County Durham. But the views are still as beautiful! There are two thriving pubs, The Crown and the Blacksmiths Arms, a busy village garage, Mickleton Service Station, and a Post Office in the hall. ‘Beckstones Wath’ the new footbridge over the Tees – pictured above – with its connecting footpaths is becoming increasingly popular with walkers.

Pottering amongst the seeds and cuttings at the back of his ramshackle greenhouse in the garden of a Gloucestershire manor house is Herbert Pinnegar. Now in his twilight years, he is full of memories and tales of a bygone era. In between potting up and potting on, he recounts his journey from orphan boy to legendary head gardener 'Old Herbaceous' and tells of his friendship with the lady of the house, Mrs.Charteris.
Sown with seeds of gardening wisdom, this charming one man show is a love story – a humorous portrayal of a single-minded yet gentle man with a passion for plants.

On the 50th anniversary of Woodstock festival, 2019, Saskia recorded and released a commemorative album of folk music called 'Baez, Dylan and Me', featuring songs by Bob Dylan and Joan Baez that are evocative of that time period.
Accompanying Saskia at Abbey Road Studios were; Kit Hawes on Mandolin and guitar, Thomas Holder on double bass, and Joseph O'Keefe on Violin. The project was sponsored by JWC Guitars. She returned in December 2019 with a 40 person choir behind her and a string quartet to record the single 'For You'.
"Rising star of the UK folk scene" Music republic magazine
Recently a transatlantic record deal has been struck between Saskia and The Susanne Marcus Collins Foundation Inc. (US), and they are now working together on "creating quality acoustic music mirroring the style and capturing the energy of the great legacy folk artists." See full article here.
Instead of touring America, Canada, Europe and the UK this year, 2020 will see Saskia releasing her new album 'Are You Listening' on July 31st, and she is heading to Abbey Road Studios for the third time to record. She will also be completing a series of 'safe summer' concerts in August, and plans to raise money for charity later in the year, building towards touring again in 2021.

During a show of live cooking and laugh-out-loud comedy George demonstrates how to cook with an engine, get the most from the car battery and even utilise the air-conditioning. He’ll demonstrate ways to procure items from the train snack trolley, beat the rip-off restaurant prices at the airport and show how to turn unexpected road-works into a picnic. It’s cheeky, anarchic and creative, a multisensory show rich in humour and sprinkled with handy hacks.
