    The Village

Marwood is a rural parish in Teesdale. It is mainly an agricultural area although in recent years industry has begun to build and the Glaxo Smithkline factory and Harmire Enterprise Park are both based in the parish of Marwood.

    The Hall

Marwood Social Centre was opened in 1953 to commemorate the Coronation on land given by Mr William Stoddart of Hetherick Grange Farm, near Barnard Castle. It previously had chemical toilets and no running water but due to a £100,000 facelift involving £80,000 of lottery funding it now has modern facilities including a toilet block, storage room and access for the disabled, central building, supper room, a newly fitted kitchen and a new roof and car park. Only a few minutes drive from Barnard Castle, Marwood Social Centre is in a private rural location with parking for approximately 50 vehicles. Furnished and equipped to a high standard of comfort, the Centre meets the accessibility needs of all people and is the ideal venue for day or evening functions throughout the year. The hall is available for hire for: • Meetings/Seminars • Social Events • Fairs and Sales • Rehearsals • Training • Functions • Parties • Dances • Sports Classes Regular activities ongoing in the hall include Domino Drives.
