The Town
Barnard Castle is a market town and has a unique historical character. It has been recognised nationally as one of the 51 most historically and architecturally important towns in Great Britain. The town is named after the 12th century castle that was founded by Bernard Baliol. The castle was protected by the River Tees and the ruins attract many tourists to the town. The adjoining 12th century St Mary's Church of similar foundation was significantly changed whilst under the patronage of King Richard III.
The Hall
The size and layout of St Mary’s Parish Hall make it an ideal choice for private and business functions. The hall is available for hire for: • Meetings/Small Conferences • Training • Parties • Dances • Sales and Fayres • Sports Classes • Functions • Social Events etc. Regular activities ongoing in the hall include table top sales and markets, coffee mornings, a mother & toddler group, yoga, pilates and art class.

Rooms: See room plan below. Room sizes: main hall 14 x 10 metres, Stage 5 x 6 metres, Guild Room 9 x 6 metres. Heating: Gas central heating throughout hall Maximum Capacity: Main Hall – 150, Committee Room – 25, Guild Room – 50 Facilities: The modern kitchen facilities include a fridge, microwave and modern gas cooker. There is a stage making it an ideal venue for productions and concerts. Equipment: There are adequate chairs and tables and ample crockery and cutlery is available. There is also various sports and play equipment available. Parking: Small adjacent car park, nearby roadside parking and pay and display car park opposite (£1.00 for four hours). Access: There is access for all into the hall with ramps and handrails providing access into the Main Hall and Guild Room. Hire Charges: Main Hall - Commercial £18 per hour, Other £14 per hour. Guild Room - Commercial £10 per hour, Other £8 per hour.Committee Room - All Users £5 per hour.
